No. Many students begin working with us because they are struggling with reading or spelling, even if they have never received a formal dyslexia diagnosis. 

Linked in Literacy provides educational literacy evaluations that identify patterns of strengths and needs related to reading and spelling, including characteristics commonly associated with dyslexia. These evaluations are designed to guide educational planning and intervention and are not medical or psychological diagnoses. 

Structured Literacy is an explicit, systematic approach to teaching reading and spelling. Students are directly taught how sounds, letters, syllables, word parts, and language patterns work rather than being expected to discover these patterns on their own. 

Orton-Gillingham is an instructional approach based on explicit, systematic, cumulative, and individualized teaching. The Wilson Reading System® is a comprehensive Structured Literacy program influenced by Orton-Gillingham principles and designed for students who need intensive reading intervention. 

Traditional tutoring often helps students with current assignments or provides additional practice with classroom material. Specialized literacy intervention focuses on identifying and directly teaching the underlying skills that are making reading and spelling difficult. 

There is no single timeline that applies to every student. The length of intervention depends on factors such as your child's current skills, individual learning profile, instructional needs, frequency of sessions, and progress over time. 

Students with significant reading and spelling difficulties typically benefit from consistent, frequent instruction. Recommendations are made individually based on the student's needs, goals, and circumstances. 

When appropriate and with parent permission, collaboration with a child's educational team may be helpful. The type and level of collaboration will depend on the services being provided and the individual situation.

Yes. Parent Support & Coaching is available for families who need guidance, answers, or help determining next steps, even if their child does not receive direct instruction through Linked in Literacy. 

Also coming in the near future- parent workshops- where we'll teach you how to work with your child! Great for homeschoolers or families that may not be able to afford direct services for their child.
